Chachapoyas Backpackers Hotel

We stayed in a private room in August 2025, and found it very good value. It was bright, spotlessly clean, and furnished with care. The bathroom was a good size, and the hot water pressure stayed steady. Staff were friendly and helpful. We booked a tour through the hostel, which partners with an agency at the main square, and paid the same price as elsewhere in town. It's on a very quiet street, about a 10-minute walk down the hill from the main square.

The owners were lovely, offered recommendations, and checked in with us regularly. It's a few blocks from the main square and easy to get to. Our dorm was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom and shower were the best I've come across in Peru. Great value and a really nice place.

The included breakfast made this a great deal for the price, and we loved our two-night stay. The beds were super comfortable, the service was superb, and the shower was hot with really good pressure. They cleaned our room between nights. On our last day, we could leave our luggage there while we went on a day tour before catching our night bus, and they even let us shower before leaving. I'd give it more stars if I could 🤗💜

After three weeks of travelling around Peru, this was the nicest and most beautiful backpacker place we'd found. The rooms were clean and well equipped, the breakfast was the best so far, and the wifi was fast and steady. They were also very helpful with arranging trips and bus connections around the region. It felt like a four-star hotel at a hostel price.
