At S/ 50 for a matrimonial room, it’s great value. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable, and the staff were friendly. You’re right next to Chachapoyas’ main square, with a laundry just next door and pharmacies, mini markets, restaurants, coffee shops, and more close by.

The owners were really kind when our friend got sick, and they let us leave our bags and wait in the common area until our 8pm bus after checkout. The location is amazing and the place is family run. There was mould on our ceiling, though. C’est la vie, for that price you can’t complain!

The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the facilities are decent for the price. You can negotiate, with dorm beds going as low as 10 Soles. The kitchen could use more equipment, like pots, and the ones there were often dirty or all in use. Of the two showers, only one was somewhat warm; the other was cold. They arrange tours to local sights, but the quoted prices seemed to change from one sentence to the next. There are plenty of reliable tour operators 50 meters away on the Plaza de Armas.

We saw a 50 soles price on Hostelworld and went in to book five nights. They quoted 100 soles per night, so we said we could book online for 50. The man asked us to wait a minute and sat down at the computer. Fifteen minutes later he smiled and said, “a hundred soles.” When I repeated that I could book online for fifty, he said he had just changed the price. We complained politely, but he looked away and wouldn’t speak. I’ve never met such an arrogant and dishonest person in Peru. Fraudsters and liars. Stay away!
