Wyndham Costa del Sol Chiclayo - Chiclayo

The lift took ages to arrive and was extremely slow. Otherwise, I had a lovely pisco sour as a welcome drink, enjoyed the roof terrace and breakfast, and found the beds comfy. The service was very friendly.

We spent 7 nights here. Our sixth-floor room faced the street and was clean and comfortable, with good air conditioning. The front desk was courteous and helpful, and the doormen were polite and ready to help when needed. Breakfast was a buffet in the restaurant, where the staff were great and so was the food. We also had dinner there a few nights and enjoyed it.

We spent 3 days at Wyndham Costa de Sol and were very impressed with the service, especially at Paprika. Leilis looked after us at breakfast all three days. She was attentive, quick, and accommodating. Service at Paprika in the evening was a little slower.

The room was old and poorly maintained. The shampoo dispenser was broken, there were no floor towels after showering, and the bathroom flooded like a pool when two people showered. There was no humidity absorber either, and the basic details had been poorly handled. They also never brought an extra towel for our additional guest, despite the website emphasizing “guest care.” It felt like they didn't care at all. I was especially disappointed because we'd had an excellent stay at another 4-star hotel of the same brand in Lima. We decided to stay here with a friend because of that experience. Check-in started smoothly, but later that night one of our friends missed her flight and came to stay with us. While we were having a drink at the bar, a security guard interrupted me as I was ordering and rudely demanded that I register her immediately. I calmly explained, apologized, and said we planned to do it after finishing our drink. He stayed aggressive and threatened to make us leave if we didn't comply right then. It was completely unnecessary and intimidating, and we were genuinely scared. We went downstairs, registered her, and paid the $20 fee, which we had already intended to pay. The problem was how the guard handled it, never the fee. By then we wanted to leave, but it was late and hard to find another hotel in a city we didn't know. We stayed that night, but decided never to return to this location in Chiclayo.
