Hotel Olaya

An absolutely dreadful place.

Clean.

I had to stay here because of a scheduling conflict, and I hope this helps other travelers choose with their eyes open. I wouldn't recommend it to business travelers, tourists, or anyone wanting decent lodging that meets basic hotel standards. It was advertised as a 3-star corporate hotel, but it seemed clearly set up for short-term encounters instead. The building looked old, the facilities were minimal and run-down, there was no restaurant despite what the category suggested, and there were no extra services. The room had no king-size bed as advertised, just two single mattresses pushed together, both covered in thick plastic. There was a persistent unpleasant smell throughout the room. I asked the manager by phone whether it was a couples' hotel because I was suspicious, and she firmly said no, insisting it was a 3-star corporate hotel. I asked again at check-in whether it was a couples' hotel by the hour, and she denied it again. Once I saw the room, though, it seemed obvious to me. Who would sleep all night on a plastic sheet? The advertising felt deceptive, presenting it as a tourist-class hotel when it seemed to operate as a motel by the hour. The lack of transparency was unacceptable when I was looking for legitimate business or tourist accommodation.

The mattresses are old, and the bathroom doors won't shut properly. There's no ventilation either. The service was poor, especially for a hotel meant for tourists.
