Niños Hotel Fierro

Breakfast is quite expensive, and for the price I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. During a month of travel in Peru, this was the smallest room for three people we had in any hotel. The windows faced the inner lobby, leaving the room dark and noisy. You could hear people talking downstairs, sometimes until 9:30 pm, which was unfortunate when we had an early tour the next day. Music played over speakers in the lobby all day, and we could hear it in our room the whole time.

The patio was a pleasant place to sit and read, with a couch, book exchange and an eclectic mix of vintage furniture. It was pretty, but we were disappointed for the price. Our room had no outside windows, only ones looking into the covered inner patio, which also serves as the lounge and breakfast room. It was noisy, there was no fresh air, and the windows wouldn’t open. The bathroom was very basic, the shower was poor, and the door wouldn’t close, staying about 10 cm ajar. Breakfast was inflexible too. For example, they wouldn’t let us swap the included coffee for a cappuccino and pay the difference. The beds were small, our double was at most 140 cm wide. The location wasn’t great either, about 20 minutes from Placa de Armas on a rather dodgy street. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. We saw many much nicer-looking hotels in Cusco.

It’s well run, very clean, and has a great breakfast. What makes the place especially wonderful is that it supports and finances an orphanage. A Dutch lady started it many years ago, and all the money spent here goes to the children. Amazing 🤩

I’m a huge fan. The hotel has a great atmosphere, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Hanging out there was honestly one of the highlights of my trip. Just bring something to cover your eyes at night if you can’t sleep in a bright room, since all the rooms have sun roofs and get light early.
