Casa Andina Premium Cusco

Being so close to the main square and its beautiful sights made it easy to take in Cusco, a captivating city with Inca history all around. We spent three nights here on a group holiday. The colonial mansion is really attractive, and while our room was smaller than rooms at other hotels on the trip, the facilities were good. Breakfast was very nice, and the staff were very helpful.

There are plenty of local sights within walking distance, along with lots of restaurants and souvenir shops. The hotel sits on a busy road, but you don't hear the traffic once you're inside. We had twin beds, both small doubles, and they were very comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful, with a walk-in shower, bathrobes, slippers, and lotions.

We went to Cusco for our honeymoon, and this ended up being the worst experience I've ever had. After a long day in the Sacred Valley, we arrived late and exhausted. Check-in turned into a problem with our booking, which staff said was “their procedure.” After going back and forth, we finally got the matrimonial suite we were meant to have, at the far end of the hotel. It faced a major road, and each passing car made the whole room vibrate. We couldn't relax at all. When I went to reception, the choices they gave me were to downgrade or pay extra for another room. There was no compensation or consideration for the trouble, and the only welcome gesture was a letter with my name spelled wrong. Since it was late and we were worn out, I paid more just so we could rest. Staff didn't help with our luggage and seemed barely interested in helping us. It was especially disappointing on our honeymoon, and it wasn't worth the money.

After our three nights here, we left for a five-night trek, and the hotel kept our luggage for free even though we were staying elsewhere after the hike. The staff, breakfast, and accommodations were all above expectations. Excellent experience, would recommend.
