The inner courtyard is a lovely place to relax, and it has a roof so you can sit there and stay dry. The hostel is within walking distance of central Cusco, very clean, and quite luxurious for the price.

The staff are helpful and attentive, but bring earplugs. Hot water can be unreliable, so ask at reception if only cold water is coming through. Ask for a heater too. It's an old colonial-style house.

I got sick during our stay, and everyone at Cusi Wasi looked after me. They even made us homemade chicken soup to help us feel better. Thanks to Francisco, Carmen, everyone at Cusi Wasi, and the owner Raymond. We had a great stay.

The airport shuttle isn't free, despite what some listings say. Our particular room also needed more cleaning and had several problems: a torn curtain, a window that wouldn't open, and old parquet flooring with pieces peeling up and glue residue that stuck to our shoes. The staff were always friendly, breakfast was good, and the bathroom had hot water all day. It's 500 meters from San Pedro Market and a little farther from the cathedral.
