Hotel Boutique Gold Garden

We spent seven days here and had a great experience. The room and bathroom were both large, breakfast was good, and the staff provided excellent service. The location is good, though it's at high elevation and the climb up from the main square can be tough. Our only other issue was that the heater wasn't strong enough for such a large room.

We liked the hotel enough to return for one night after our Machu pichu trip, having booked two nights there beforehand. It's well located on a street with almost no traffic, and the reception, restaurant, and housekeeping staff were all friendly and excellent. We also left our luggage there safely while away. Good value for the money!

We booked three nights but checked out after just one. The room wasn't clean: the linens seemed fresh, but the floors felt dirty, and the faded shag rugs by the bed looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in years. The shower head was worse, with thick, crusty buildup that looked decades old. At check-in we were told hot water would take about 20 minutes because other guests had just showered. We waited 45 minutes and still got cold showers. Noise, possibly from TVs, echoed through the building all night and made sleep very difficult. Breakfast the next morning was fine, nothing special. The front desk staff member was polite and seemed to understand when we left early over these problems, but the hotel refused to refund the two unused nights. Between the dirt, lack of hot water, noise, and poor customer service, we can't recommend this hotel.

The room was cozy, but sounds from the hallway carry right in because the hotel isn't well soundproofed. Our Uber driver couldn't drop us at the entrance because the street is so steep that some cars can't get up it, so be prepared to walk.
