Hotel Paradis Suite - Cusco

They cancelled our booking through Booking.com just a few days before we were due to arrive, even though we'd already paid a top price. Unreliable. Do not book this hotel.

The restaurant food was really good, and the hotel was kept clean. What stood out most was the staff: they were all pleasant, helpful, and professional whenever I needed or asked for something. My stay was short, so I didn't get to try the spa or sauna. I can see why people rate the place so highly. I'd recommend it, and if I come back to Cusco, I'll book here again.

The hotel is more than a 30-minute walk from the center of Cusco, so keep that in mind. We also had a bad experience with the laundry: they forgot to wash what we left, and we had to set off on a four-day tour without clean clothes. Nobody even apologized. The room was much darker than the Booking.com photos and description led me to expect. It wasn't stated that there was no proper window, and ours only had a small opening onto the inside of the building. It felt like a hovel. Breakfast was miserable, with barely anything worth eating, and the customer service wasn't attentive. I wouldn't recommend it.

After one night I had to leave, even though I'd tried to book a week. There was no hot water, sometimes no water at all, the room wasn't clean, and I was so uncomfortable I couldn't sleep. Staff said they'd sort out a refund for the remaining six days, but they didn't. They waited for Expedia to get involved and still refused to refund me. I've never had a worse hotel experience.
