Inkas Garden Apartment

Gabriel was a great host and kept offering help. We arrived exhausted, so he went out and got us a vegetarian dinner from a local restaurant. When our friend left her phone in a taxi, he went back to the airport with her and they found it. The room was chilly in June, but they gave us a heater and extra blankets. For the price, it’s a reasonable place, and we’d come back. These apartments also host people for longer stays, so sometimes residents drink and party at night. It happened once during our four nights. We had earplugs, so it didn’t bother us. There was also a water issue. Gabriel did his best to sort it out, brought us buckets of water and called a technician. It sounds like the city turns off water on certain days in this part of town. The place is about a ten-minute walk from the main square.

The owner was nice, but the stay was a real disappointment compared with the reviews we’d read. The room wasn’t what we expected, had very few windows, and the bathroom wasn’t clean, with old toilet paper left in the bin. There was noise all night because the owner was drinking with friends, playing loud music and yelling. We left the hostel the next morning, but getting our money back took two more visits because the owner didn’t communicate. We also couldn’t get the breakfast included with our stay that morning because the owner was hungover.

The garden is just decent, though the view from it is good. Inside, the small kitchen has what you need to make meals, and the beds are sturdy and really warm. The shower was clean and very hot. Breakfast was amazing, with fruit, bread, cereal, yogurt, and juice. A solid hostel.

Up on top of the hill, it's quiet and feels safe, with a great view and an easy walk down to the Cusco core. The garden is beautiful and has gatitos, and there's a wonderful range of accommodation types. Good people you can trust and a strong community, too. This place is magical.
