La Cabaña Hotel

They were renovating while we were there, and my companions got to try two different rooms. Both were good enough, but one had already been renovated and looked much better, more modern, and cozier. The staff were attentive and very helpful. Thank God they offered us different teas each time we came back. They don't speak English, so bring some Spanish or travel with someone who does. They're still very friendly and try their best to accommodate you. As of August 2019, the sinks had no hot water, the only downside to the rooms. There is Wi-Fi, but it was useless for me. Better get a local SIM and find a promo.

We booked two rooms months in advance and paid a 50% deposit, but when we arrived, the hotel had canceled both bookings. We had printouts of the confirmations and payment invoice. Reception wasn't helpful or apologetic. We had to go back into Cusco to find somewhere else for the night, which cost us money and wasted most of the day. It was the worst experience. The location isn't the greatest, which is understandable for the price, but be aware before booking.

When I checked in, I was told there were no Jacuzzi rooms available, even though I'd reserved one. The rooms do have new bathroom fixtures, hardwood floors, a large TV, plenty of closet space, hot showers, and heaters for cold nights. There are a few things they could improve: construction on the top floor has caused water damage on the ceiling, with mold and peeling paint. You also have to remember to lock the door, since it doesn't lock automatically and there's no deadbolt.

This is ultra-low-budget accommodation, as of February 2017. Your room probably won't look like the pictures. It's on the north side of the airport, not the south, so you'll need a taxi. The free airport shuttle is only for pickups.
