It’s an okay place if you’re on a budget, though it feels a little ominous and rough around the edges. The rooms were clean, but the building could use some work. We tried a couple of rooms, and neither bathroom extractor fan worked. One bathroom smelled of rotten eggs. The showers gave hot water only about half the time and were temperamental. Laundry was good and reasonably priced. Staff were helpful most of the time despite the language barrier. I was disappointed, though, that they charged for something as simple as coca tea when my partner was sick. They did store our bags for free while we went trekking.

My stay at Catama Inn was a big disappointment. It looked nothing like the online photos, which felt misleading and unlike what had been promised. Service was very slow and unprofessional. I also saw staff come back from the washroom and start preparing breakfast without washing their hands, which raised a serious hygiene concern. Given the cleanliness, service and advertising, I wouldn’t recommend it.

If all you need is a cheap place for one night, it might be okay. My friends and I spent four nights here and were unhappy with the service. The rooms were in bad shape; touching the walls left our clothes white, and the sheets were stained. They didn’t change our towels or bed sheets during the stay, and we had to ask for toilet paper. Breakfast was a joke, each of us got only a small slice of avocado. We didn’t feel welcome by the hosts, and compared with other places we stayed in cuscos, we were very disappointed. NOT RECOMMENDED.

The hostel felt really homely, and the host and staff were lovely and helpful. I stayed here with two friends and we had a great time :)
