Tierra Viva Cusco Saphi

Breakfast was small but good, and starting at 5am helped with an early departure. When we went down at 5:30, though, the hot food wasn’t ready yet. The staff were very friendly and the room was fairly clean, but the sound carries: most rooms open onto a central courtyard, so we heard people returning late and heading out early. The place felt more like a motel than a hotel. Rooms are simple and somewhat dated, though the bathroom seemed more recently updated.

For my son’s 16th birthday trip in 2024, we stayed at Tierra Viva Cusco Saphi. The hotel had a lovely atmosphere and a great location. My son and I would often walk to the square in the evenings after our other companions had gone to bed. The staff were lovely and accommodating.

The staff were so warm, kind, and helpful that they’re what I keep thinking about from this fabulous stay. The room was quiet, the shower had good pressure and hot water, and breakfast came with fresh juices, fruit, bread, and a few hot options. There was someone at the desk 24/7, which was really handy for a tour pickup at 3-4am.

The team was my favorite part, always smiling and there when we needed them. The location was ideal for visiting the square and everything else Cusco offers. The room was cozy and just right for my son and me, though if you’re tall, I’d ask whether they have a larger bed. Breakfast was good, and I loved having scrambled eggs every day.
