Real Hotel

It can get hot in the rooms, but you can ask for a fan. The rooms facing the main square have a good view and some traffic noise, while the interior rooms look onto nearby buildings and are quiet. They're spacious, with large closets, a desk, adequate furniture, cable TV, and a refrigerator. Some things are available from the menu, and the amenities depend on the reservation level. American breakfast is included. The manager and receptionists are efficient, and Cecilia, the staff on both shifts, the cleaning lady, and the breakfast staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is a classic building across from the main square. There’s a restaurant-bar by the entrance with a great view. I think it’s the best spot for cocktails, with special offers some nights, DJ music, and breakfast or lunch during the day. Service is good there too. At the other end, there’s a spacious game room with good service. I was told the basement used to be a nightclub. It’s a shame it isn’t open. There was also a pool for guests, but it's rented out to Essalud (a Peruvian social security health service).

For a weekend in Huanuco, this is a great choice. The service is top-notch, and you're right in the center.

I've stayed here several times when traveling to Huanuco, but on this last trip the service was awful. Breakfast tables weren't cleaned before people were served. Today I waited 30 minutes for Mr. Raul Ojanama to take my order. He served people who came after me, then told me to wait or complain at reception. He dropped food from another table and picked up bread from the floor with his bare hands, then put it back in the bread basket. He was incredibly rude. It's a shame to see the hotel's service deteriorate so much.
