Huaraz Lodge and Bungalows

We came by car, so the distance from Huaraz wasn’t a problem. There’s parking space, the nights are quiet, and the garden gets plenty of sun. Several hikes start nearby. We picked this place because Huaraz is noisy and the cheaper options usually don’t have a view. The main drawback was the altitude: at 3,500 meters above sea level, coming straight from sea level was a bit much. Next time I’ll plan to spend a night at a lower altitude first. The service and advice about day trips were excellent, as was the value for money.

It’s a lovely spot for getting away from the city noise and relaxing, with a beautiful view of the snow-capped mountains and starry sky. The road to the lodge is stunning, and the location is convenient, just minutes from the trail starting points for the Churup, Cojup, Llaca, Shallap, and Palcacocha lagoons, and the Quilcayhuanca Valley. The rooms are comfortable and the service is excellent. I’ll definitely come back on my next vacation.

The staff were friendly, but you need to handle everything yourself since there’s no food available. It’s about a 20-minute motorbike ride from central Huaraz, and feels like a place at the end of the world.

The owners made us feel like family with their warm welcome. It’s a safe, comfortable place surrounded by spectacular scenery, including views of snow-capped mountains. A lovely spot to switch off.
