Kame House

Kame House was a great place to stay, and the staff were so helpful and friendly when arranging our trek. A huge thank you to Chris, too. When my partner had a medical emergency, he took us to the hospital and helped us translate. He really went above and beyond.

We’ve already added an extra week because Kame House feels so cosy and welcoming, like home. It’s the best place we’ve stayed in eight months on the road. Everyone at this family-run hostel is so kind and helpful, and Chris was always there to answer hiking questions and offer advice. The room was clean and warm, with a really comfortable bed. Showers stayed hot, the kitchen was well equipped and had a drinking water filter, and they served a simple, tasty breakfast on the rooftop each morning with beautiful views of the Cordillera. They even light a fire on chilly evenings. Highly recommend!

I kept coming back to Kame for about a month between activities, and it’s a fantastic hostel close to the city center. The rooms are clean, the showers hot, and the Wi-Fi fast. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. There’s a mountaineering shop attached for trekking supplies, but they aren’t pushy about it. The open kitchen, fireplace, and living areas make it easy to meet people. I made a lot of friends here and would highly recommend staying.

The view is incredible, especially at sunset, which I won’t forget. Martha is so sweet and welcoming, and the whole staff are great and always happy to share information. The beds are comfortable, everything is clean, the showers are always hot, and breakfast is great. This is the hostel to choose if you want to feel at home. I can’t recommend it enough!
