Maimara Hotel

The breakfast area on the top floor has beautiful views, and the hotel is within walking distance of the bus station. Piero was friendly, gave us great advice, and helped arrange our transport.

The beds were so comfortable, and I slept well. The hotel is a little outside the main town square, which made it quieter and more relaxed, just what I was looking for. Breakfast was delicious and the views were beautiful. The family running the place is wonderful and ready to help with anything. They really made me feel at home and cared for. Such a lovely base for Huaraz!

The main hassle was having to ring the bell every time I wanted to enter or leave, since the hotel was always locked. Sometimes staff took a while to come down and open it, and with five levels there was a lot of up and down for everyone. It's also not very central, so I needed a tuktuk to get to town, and the next restaurant was quite a walk. For what you get, it felt expensive and poor value. After three days we moved to another hotel, paid less than half, and got a better breakfast included without having to wait for someone at the door. The hosts were very friendly, the young manager spoke great English, and the bed was good. The room was nice enough, with new sheets and towels, and the inside looked lovely with its wooden decoration.

The rooms were super comfortable, and we ended up staying eight nights at Maimara hotel. During that time, we felt like part of the family. The location is a bit away from the centre, which gave us some peace of mind. It's a 20 minute walk in, or a local taxi costs 6 PEN. We had a great stay and highly recommend it. Thank you!
