Selina Huaraz

It was a really great stay, and I'd definitely come back. The place is very clean and comfy, and the water pressure and temperature were always just right. The service was excellent too: I left my AirPods behind, and they kept them for me. It's a 15-minute walk to the main square.

The cleaning and restaurant staff were friendly, and the tours offered by Selina were great. We also had amazing views from the bedroom window. But this was definitely not my favourite Selina. Walking around the area was really difficult because there were so many vicious dogs. We ended up staying in more than we wanted and ordering food in. The pool table was badly broken and wasn't much of an amenity, and there was mold on the bathroom ceiling. Customer service wasn't very friendly. We felt uncomfortable asking the front desk questions because they made us feel like a bother. During check-in, the woman kept rolling her eyes at me, then later complained to another staff member that she was speaking English to me. She didn't try Spanish, though I've checked into many Selinas in Spanish and would have been fine with that. They wouldn't let us check in early, so we waited until exactly 3. Even then the key wasn't ready. They told us to wait an hour, and when my husband asked about it more than an hour later, the front desk staff said, “What do you want now?”

The Selina was great, and the staff were the best. Flower at the front desk was so friendly and had the most beautiful smile. It was a pleasure seeing her. Guillermo at the bar was amazing too, and made amazing drinks.

The place was noisy, seemed not to care about customers, and I wouldn't recommend it. It fell far short of our Selina expectations. We'd had a great stay in Lima, but this one was very disappointing. After the night bus, we were looking forward to a hot shower in the standard room we'd booked. When we asked reception about the lack of hot water, they immediately said local regulations didn't allow them to keep it on. We had no idea, so asked around, and found out there was no such regulation. It felt like they'd lied to us without a second thought. The toilet wouldn't flush, and the whole place was noisy. We wanted to get up early for the 7:00 bus to a hike, but some staff partied until 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. on two of our four nights. I wouldn't recommend it if you're visiting to enjoy the nature in this beautiful area.
