Tupac Hostel Huaraz

The beds were comfortable and clean, and the room and shower were cleaned regularly. I also loved the mountain view, and the hostel itself had a chilled, quiet feel, except for the neighbours in the building next door. Still, I only got one quiet night out of five. There was barking, birthday parties, and music going late, plus a rooster that woke me at 5am. That’s rough when day hikes in Huaraz often mean getting up between 3-6am. The rooms are tidy and nice, but the curtains are nearly see-through, so sunrise wakes you up. Soundproofing is poor too. The windows are single pane and there’s a big gap around the door. You can hear neighbours talking clearly through the shower vents if they’re left open. I often went across the street to Alpes Huaraz hostel for laundry, day tour bookings, and information at their front desk. If they’d had a room for my dates, I would’ve stayed there instead. The front desk staff speak little English and didn’t know about day trips or hikes, tours, airport taxis, or other information you’re likely to need. I had to go to Alpes Huaraz for that too.

The sheets were clean and the staff were nice. For the standard, this is a very cheap hostel. It wasn’t especially social, but we weren’t looking for that. Highly recommend!

Clean, comfortable, and quiet. I paid 100 soles for four nights in a four-bed room, with two twin-sized bunk beds. I only had one roommate, and I think it was just the two of us staying there.

The staff were lovely, and I felt really safe in the dorm. It’s central and close to everything, but still quiet. The room was modern and clean, with a security locker and a high-pressure hot shower. There’s also a kitchen, garden, fire pit, terrace, and a common area with a TV, couches, and games. Tours can be booked right from the hostel. I can’t think of anything else you’d need.
