Colon Plaza Hotel

So quiet, with a lovely view over the main square. The place was really tidy and clean...

The room itself was in rough shape: stained blankets, old furniture covered in tape, and a flickering ceiling bulb. The table lamp was broken too, so we had little light. The fan was wired straight into the wall, and we had to unplug it to turn it off. It all looked decades old and unchanged. The one positive was being close to the main square. We arrived around 1:00 AM and the girl at reception was unfriendly and clearly not focused on good service. They only took cash, and she demanded payment up front. We went out at that hour looking for an ATM but couldn’t get any cash. When we returned, she finally let us in on the understanding that we’d pay in the morning. In the morning, another girl rudely stopped us from leaving to withdraw money, saying she thought we’d leave without paying. She even sent a colleague upstairs to check whether our belongings were still in the room. The service and treatment were bad, and the rooms were ugly. Don’t stay here if you want to avoid a terrible experience.

It’s okay if all you need is a place to sleep. The bathroom is very dark and, in my opinion, needs more lights. Some windows are a little broken, so you can hear all the noise. I really didn’t think it was very good.

The room was very large, though it had just two pieces of furniture and a single power outlet. Inside, the furniture is falling apart, the sink is cracked, we were short on towels, and there was no sign the bathroom had been disinfected. There’s no phone to call reception. The outside is very well kept, and the central location makes it easy to get around. Reception staff were always willing to help.
