Karaoke was the last straw. I had specifically asked in my reservation for a room without karaoke noise. If they'd told me I'd have to hear it, I would've stayed elsewhere. At 9:30 I went down and asked when it would stop, since I pay for quiet and there was nobody there. They turned it down but said 10pm, and it was still going at 10:15 and 10:30. I hated it. I'm disputing the charge with Visa because I paid for sleep and the hotel wouldn't let me sleep. Noise came from other places too: screaming TVs next door and more loud noise around the pool. It was cold enough in the evening to wear a coat, but there was no heat in the room, and they told me to use the fan. The decor was logs, seriously. The room layout was poorly thought out, with nowhere for luggage and outlets that were hard to find. Only one of the two outlets worked, so anyone charging several devices needs their own extension cord and charger. There was no phone in the room. The front desk was rude. They couldn't find my reservation, demanded payment upfront and another copy of my passport even though I'd sent one already, and refused to reserve without it. That was odd. They also tried to charge my card without showing me the price. Security was poor too: no hotel safe, and the doors were just panels about 1/8th an inch thick, with no bolt. The lock could easily be picked or kicked in, or someone could lean on it and push their way in. I was charged over 50 US for a place worth about 15 US. I would never stay again. My nomination for the worst, noisiest, most overpriced, disappointing, and rudest hotel in Peru. Hated it, hated it, hated it!

The shower was especially uncomfortable. It took 10 minutes to get hot water, and the bathroom had an open wall, so shower steam and smells ended up in the bedroom. The blankets smelled bad too. At breakfast, an employee watched what I was doing but didn't ask if I needed help. When I asked for a piece of fruit, he refused, saying it was decoration and not for eating. That was very rude. I'm very disappointed with this hotel.

I would recommend it. I've stayed here twice, and the staff have been very nice and polite. The rooms are pleasant, though the bathroom could use updating. There are modern features like Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, plus a nice-sized pool and a well-decorated outdoor area. The hotel has six floors and an elevator, with room for two people at a time. It's close to the plaza, with plenty of places to eat nearby. The area can get a little noisy at night, especially on weekends. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. The hotel is expanding, and you may be able to bargain over the price depending on the time of year. Summer begins in December and is busier for tourism. November is a good time to travel and find bargains, with fantastic weather and temperatures over 80.

After a bad experience at another Ica hotel, where the photos had been taken from other properties and the promised private bathroom and AC weren't there, I was furious. Sol de Ica was a huge relief. The rooms were beautiful and clean, the location was good, and the prices were VERY reasonable. We paid under $20USD per person. Honestly, a place like this could probably cost $300/night in the States. God bless Sol de Ica.

I stayed here in 2022 and left some belongings in my room when I checked out. I called afterward to ask about them, but never received a reply. That was disappointing.
