The pool looked inviting, towels were available, and the woman working during the day was kind when I asked her for toilet paper. That was about the only helpful moment: the stalls had no paper or bins, and staff seemed very hit or miss. I couldn't even get basic help in the morning, with the front gate locked and nobody at reception. Other guests were asking where to leave their keys and how to get out. I had to go through the place next door. I still don't know whether Silva House and Iguana Hostel are the same place or how they're connected. For 30 soles, I expected more than beds lined up in a room, no lockers, and nowhere to hang a wet towel. The shower setup was odd too: I had to turn on the tap in the neighboring stall to get water. They switched on the lights and came into the room after midnight, and music was loud all night. The bed had one sheet and a top blanket; I wasn't sure the blanket was clean, and the loose sheet had come off by morning, leaving the mattress exposed. Dinner at the restaurant doesn't start until 9 pm, which might suit people who eat late. If you're an early eater, look elsewhere. This could work if you stay up late and plan to sleep in, but I wouldn't recommend it for much else. Thirty soles feels extremely expensive for a place that misses such basic requirements.

There's loads of room here, and you can even have a bonfire. It's actually a hostel, tucked away in Huacachina, and a real little gem. I'd definitely recommend it. If you come across this, tell your friends too. Supporting local businesses matters ♥️🤙

My family and I couldn't sleep at all, and we ended up cancelling our Nazca tour because of it. Music went on the entire night, with Bad Bunny blasting the whole freaking time. Nobody told me this was a party hotel. If I'd known, I would never have stayed at SYLVIA HOUSE. The mattress was hard as a rock, the bathroom was filthy, and there was no hot water. That was the worst night of my life. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Do not stay here!

The owners were genuinely friendly, which made a good impression. We booked tours there too, and the location was convenient. There's a pool, though its water could be better maintained. Our room was small but had a comfortable mattress, and it was very clean. The average price for a double room was 80.

I paid 120 soles, which felt like the last straw after the rest of the stay. The next day there wasn't any water. I kept quiet about my dissatisfaction because I didn't want trouble and just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. I'd booked through the site, but they hadn't sent room photos. I thought that was odd, so I looked the place up here; the rooms seemed decent. In person, mine was tiny, with the shower directly over the toilet. I only needed somewhere to sleep while spending New Year's in Huacachina, so I could have lived with that. But the bathroom bin had dirty paper in it, there was lots of hair in the drain, and the sheets didn't look or smell clean. I'd already unpacked, so I tried to ignore it and went out early for my plans. The dining area was also the food-preparation space, and the whole place smelled unpleasantly of grease. I didn't feel comfortable eating anything there. Luckily, I found another hostel where I could have a couple of beers, eat something, and spend the rest of the day. I still had to return here to sleep. It was a nightmare.
