The Upcycled Hostel

So far, this has been our favorite breakfast on the trip. The place looks nice, has a really laid-back feel, and they're super flexible about accommodating you.

The garden and pool are beautiful, and the hostel has a calm feel. It's a great fit if you want a lovely place without the party-hostel scene. Our room was roomy and clean, with a really comfortable bed, and the shared bathrooms stayed clean too. Breakfast is included and decent. The vegetarian choices on the regular menu could use work, though. The lentil burger was pretty terrible. It's about a 10-minute walk to the oasis, or you can take a tuk-tuk taxi for 5 soles.

The rooms are simple and clean, and it was great being able to use the facilities for the whole day after checking out. There are minimarkets and restaurants nearby. The walk to the oasis takes around 15 minutes, or it's quicker by tuk-tuk, which costs 5 soles for two people. Fatima, Andrea, and the rest of The Upcycled Hostel Team were so kind and helpful. They even helped us plan a little birthday surprise for a friend. The hostel feels like a green, colorful oasis beside those impressive dunes, with everything we needed: a cool bar, good music, a small restaurant, a pool, and plenty of cozy places to sit. It gets hot at night because there's no A/C. On weekends, the nearby clubs get really busy, but the music didn't bother us. We'd definitely come back. It's easy to walk into the little town, just a few minutes away. The Hostel serves a good breakfast, and you can order dinner there too. A solid option if you're heading to Huacachina.
