After the long trip to Jaén, Peru, I spent about half an hour wandering around looking for a hotel. I ended up with a decent room at the rack rate, which wasn’t a great deal. The manager was kind and kept trying to make my stay better. I also met another guest who offered to show me around the city and take me to some good local food, so I went along. After the tour, I spent most of the night by the nice pool and got street food from across the road. The room was okay, spacious, and air-conditioned, and I could park my bike securely. Wi-Fi was weak, at 1.8 Mbps down and 1.8 Mbps up, and only seemed to work near the pool. There’s a shop across the street with basic groceries, and the staff there were very nice. I was tired, did my chores, then fell asleep around 11 pm.

In Jaen City, this is the best hotel. It has a spa and three good restaurants.

The food was tasty and very affordable, especially the set lunch. Service was excellent too, with friendly waiters and reception staff.
