If you enjoy local markets, the location might suit you. Just know this is an economy hotel with a very limited breakfast menu, and it can be noisy. For a quiet stay, you may want to look elsewhere.

The rooftop has nice views, and breakfast was good, with a small but acceptable selection and some cooked eggs. For laundry, reception charges 10 soles per kg, though they did lose one of my socks. I stayed one night as part of a G adventures tour, and it was fine for that short stay, but the bathroom was mouldy and dirty. I expect basic cleanliness even on a backpacking hostel tour. The walls are thin enough that you hear everything, though that seems standard in cheap hotels across Peru.

We had a good stay, and the staff were really nice. Breakfast was better than at other places, and there was hot water all day and night. The downsides were the thin walls, which meant hearing the neighbors, and a bathroom that wasn't as clean as it should have been.

The hotel looks much nicer inside than the street view suggests, and the rates were very reasonable compared with other hotels in Arequipa. My friend, my fiance, and I stayed for two nights in June 2016. We paid 150sol for a three-bed room, or 50sol each, about $17 per person. I'd encourage American visitors to stay here, and I may come back myself. Arequipa is wonderful, so grab some queso helado and stay an extra night or two! :)
