The staff were great and happily helped with whatever we needed, including getting up to open the front gate plenty of times :). There’s also a pleasant garden patio to sit and unwind, and the location is just a few steps from central Miraflores, with lots of shops, bars, and restaurants nearby. Walking around felt safe at any time. More about Lima, Peru and South America on our blog thekcouple. Our twin room was at the back and felt really cramped. It heated up fast, had only a tiny window and no fan or air-con, and there was nowhere for our things except the beds. The bunk bed was very small too, so if you’re taller than 175-180cm, sleeping could be uncomfortable. Wi-fi barely worked that far back. The bathroom and fridge could both have been cleaner.

The people working here were lovely and friendly, and the location is really good. But our first room was a bad spot, so small and rough that it should really be used as a storeroom. It had no windows, no paint, and poor flooring and roofing. The hostel itself was good, though a bit of a mess.

The staff were enjoyable and I liked the place. It’s in a great location, has a cute back yard, comfortable common-area seating, and entry feels safe since you always have to be buzzed in. Breakfast was mostly bread with butter and jam, green and black tea, with pancakes or something else occasionally. It was really quiet while I was there, and I’d come back. Hopefully I’ll return to Lima when it isn’t overcast every day. The outlets were a pain. Most wouldn’t take a plug, and when I mentioned it, they said they’d look into it. In my six-bed room there were two outlets in one module, but only one worked. I was the only person in the room for about half of my week-long stay, but when someone else arrived, they were in the bed in front of the working outlet. I tried 7 outlets in the building, and 5 seemed to have the same blockage issue. That’s just what I ran into, though.

The beds were quite hard, but I actually slept really well on them. The showers were basic and only dribbled water, though there was plenty of hot water. The toilets also kept getting blocked, which I saw happen a few times when guests caused it and then walked away. The staff weren’t particularly welcoming at first, but later apologised and were incredibly helpful finding us a taxi in the morning after our useless Uber cancelled. The rooms were very basic, which I guess fits the hostel’s price, and WiFi didn’t work in some dorms. The relaxation rooms offered little in the way of entertainment, so the atmosphere felt a bit flat. Still, people played bongos past midnight, and there doesn’t seem to be a music curfew. When things broke, they seemed to put up signs instead of fixing them. The lock on the downstairs toilet broke, so there was a sign asking people to knock first. The bathroom floor was slippery, and instead of adding mats, they left a mop out with a sign asking guests to clean up after themselves. Breakfast was basic too: 1 egg, 2 pieces of bread, and jam. If you got up late, you could miss out because someone greedy might take your bread. There’s a cancellation fee, which makes me wonder if a lot of people cancel here. We were allowed to change our day, but it was quite inconvenient, and we’d never run into this before. Condor's House may be cheap for Lima, but it definitely has its share of problems.

A tidy, comfortable hostel in a good part of town. The staff were very friendly, it’s open 24/7, and there’s hot water. I’d definitely recommend it.
