Wynwood Pedro Bustamante in Barranco

The people were nice enough, but they don’t know how to run a hostal. We waited 30 minutes outside at night before anyone let us in, and inside the place was disgusting, with stuff everywhere as if they weren’t expecting guests. Every bathroom smelled faintly of urine, and someone was living in the hallway. Breakfast took 45 minutes to arrive: bread, bad coffee, and 1 egg, with no plates or silverware. Horrible.

Most of the rooms face the backyard, and the atmosphere is nice and calm, a good place to unwind. The location in barranco is great. The staff are so friendly and thoughtful, and laundry is available too. We didn’t book breakfast because we always made our own meals in the kitchen, using the sandwich maker, blender, and working oven. Even so, they let us have free coffee, which was great.

The social setup makes this place feel warm and welcoming, and it has two bathrooms with good showers, hot water, and solid pressure. There’s also a roomy kitchen with plenty of cupboard space, plus an outdoor area where you can smoke or hang laundry. For Barranco, it’s affordable, clean, and quiet, which can be hard to find. The walls in some rooms are very thin, but the building itself stays fairly peaceful, and staff will speak up if noise might bother other guests. My previous hostel was dirty and expensive, so the price here feels fair despite that drawback. 9/10.

We stayed our first two nights here, then came back for our last night too. The homemade breakfast was the best of our trip, and the people were lovely, friendly, and welcoming. There’s hot water, it’s quiet, and the service is great for the price. The building is a little old and worn, but it still feels cozy. Cheap, and well worth it.
