Puerto Antiguo

We’ve come back to this hotel several times and plan to keep doing so. It’s in a beautiful spot right by the beach, with very nice facilities and a great pool. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the food service was good, though sometimes quite slow. Once the shower hot water heater stopped working, but the owner got it sorted quickly.

The food was the standout for me. Even with a small number of rooms, there’s a broad menu, and the dishes I tried, Ceviche, Tiradito, Fried Calamari, Jalea, and Causa, were SO good. It’s also a lovely place to soak up the sun, right across from the beach, with hardly anyone around, so you can enjoy it by yourself. The hotel has a nice vibe, the hosts were kind, and the other guests, mostly couples, were very laid-back. Highly recommended.

The place is quiet, right by the beach, and reasonably priced. Their seafood is really tasty. Just keep in mind that some rooms don’t have AC.

The food was delicious, and the menu is at the bar. It takes a while since everything is homemade and prepared to order. The prices work out well with the exchange rate: 17 dollars fed three of us and got us tipsy. Rooms are clean and have hot water and a television. The beds are full-sized, so if you’re bringing a child, upgrade. Staff don’t speak much English, but they understand it well, which wasn’t a problem for us since we’re fluent in Spanish. The hotel is beautiful and right next to the beach. There isn’t much wildlife there, but there’s plenty of room to sit on the sand or go in the water. One issue is that many travel sites say every room has air conditioning, but that’s only true of the cabins. After meeting the staff and owner, I’m almost certain they didn’t know the listing was wrong. There aren’t any restaurants or markets nearby. The closest ones are about a mile away. Use the mototaxis they recommend. Drivers outside their list will rip you off: they charged my brother-in-law, a native Peruano, 12 Sol to get from the nearest restaurant to the hotel. The hotel-affiliated taxis charge 3 Sol anywhere in Los Organos. For wildlife, go to Ñuro, 15 minutes south, then follow the beach south from the Seaturtles. The beaches are beautiful and empty in mid-February, which is summer if you’re from the north. Walk about 3 miles and you’ll see dozens of bird species fishing just offshore, thousands of crabs, lizards sunning on rocks, and a natural sea cave to explore at low tide.
