Hotel Sol del Sur

The room was clean, and they provided a fan, though there’s no air conditioning and the rooms get quite hot. Breakfast is an option of bread and jam, with scrambled or fried egg. Staff were fairly friendly, and the hotel offers free luggage storage if you’re taking one of the Nazca flights. Noise was a major problem. We had room 405 at the back, but music outside woke us at 5am and kept going until 9am. The hotel is also beside the main road, so there was traffic and constant honking through the night. Beds were very firm, and my shower went cold. They only take cash, a detail missing from their booking.com and Agoda profiles. There was also a problem with how my nationality appeared in the booking system. My booking showed I was from the UK, and I showed my British passport at check-in, but the hotel system listed me as a Peruvian national. They made me pay the extra 18% tax, which applies only to Peruvian nationals. Agoda, where I booked, also didn’t understand how it had gone through as Peruvian when their side showed me as a UK citizen. I told the hotel it didn’t seem fair to charge me when they had my British details. They said it wasn’t their fault and suggested the error was mine. They said they couldn’t change it in their system or offer free cancellation so I could book again. I booked through Agoda, but the hotel had received the reservation on its booking.com admin portal. That made no sense to me, since online searches say Agoda has its own admin portal. The hotel said they couldn’t access it and didn’t advertise on Agoda. I showed the receptionist the hotel listing on Agoda and that it could be booked there.
