Hotel San Agustín Paracas

The hotel’s food was some of the best I’ve tried in Peru, and staff were friendly, always ready to help, with several speaking great English. My room was spacious with high ceilings and a beautiful balcony view. The soap smelled great, and the blankets, sheets, and pillows were soft. The pool was lovely, with someone circulating all day to keep the many birds away. The beach beds looked nice, though we didn’t get to try them. A few things got in the way. Conference events were loud in the mornings, and I woke to cheering around 7 or 7:30. Room service costs 8 soles. Streaming on the TV worked only about half the time because our room’s Wi-Fi was poor. Wi-Fi was spotty throughout the hotel, so I worked in the lobby, though sometimes I could connect in the restaurant or room, but it cut out often. The bedsheet wasn’t fitted and came off every night. The beach was too dirty for swimming. Maybe it’s a little overpriced for what you get, but I had a very nice stay and would recommend it.

There was no peace here. At night, loud air conditioning units and compressors, along with noisy guests, kept me awake. By day, loud music carried from the “party pool” and beach area. The bathroom was run-down and felt neglected, and the property needs a lot of repair. The food was acceptable, about standard middle-class quality, but the rest of the stay was frustrating and poor value for the price. If you want a well-maintained or relaxing place, look elsewhere.

I’ve traveled all over Peru and love the country, but I’ve never dealt with staff as unfriendly as this. They were unaccommodating and straight-up rude, acting stuck up. I would never recommend anyone stay here. Take your business elsewhere.

The service was excellent, and there’s a large swimming pool. It’s also close to the beach and the tour boats to the islands. Highly recommended.
