Bamboo Lodge Sacred Valley

The accommodation was decent, and the natural setting was peaceful. Still, the staff were never around when we needed them. It was freezing at night, and using a heater cost extra. There was no first aid kit or anyone available when I had an emergency, and they didn’t seem to care. The room had no Wi-Fi, and the signal in the office was weak. Breakfast was stingy and often missing bread or something else. One staff member, denise or something, kept watching soap operas or talking on the phone while serving us. There was no toilet paper or fresh soap, and the cleaning service that was supposed to be included never happened. We stayed four nights and had to beg for clean towels.

We loved the quiet, rustic feel here, away from town and up at a higher elevation beside a thundering brook. The overall atmosphere was wonderful, and the interiors were clean, though the entrance is a bit rough. Saul and Jorge were kind hosts who went out of their way to help, even offering rides and cooking vegetarian meals for us. The price was great for what you get, and I’d highly recommend the hotel. Nina the dog is adorable, too.

A quiet spot with really friendly staff, and a great base if you want to get to the Pisac archeological site before the crowds. The lodge was very nice, with comfortable beds and a shower that had strong pressure and plenty of hot water.

We were glad to have the river right outside and a nice balcony, but the stay was a letdown. We booked for ten days, and the service was incredibly poor. The website promises amenities the place doesn’t seem to have, and when I asked for a fridge and electric kettle, the two owners seemed annoyed and answered in an unfriendly way. The property has a lot of potential, but it felt like things had gone downhill under the new owners. On Christmas Eve, the owner asked if we wanted dinner for 50 soles each. We said yes and gave our arrival time as 6 pm, but there was nothing prepared when we got there. One owner was sitting on the couch reading a magazine. She didn’t apologize and acted like it wasn’t a big deal. Nobody had told us dinner was cancelled. The only time they went out of their way to make us a meal was breakfast on my second day. The Wi-Fi was poor, too, and we had to stand outside to get a better signal. Those are just a few examples. I was happy to leave and wouldn’t recommend staying longer than a day unless the owners change their attitude and stop spending so much of the day sitting around drinking and smoking.
