Corto Maltes Amazonia

Our outings were the best part of the stay, especially with our guide Charles. As a local, he knew the area and ecosystem so well, and explained the wildlife and culture with patience and real enthusiasm. Each excursion felt memorable. Corto Maltes Lodge is set a comfortable distance from Puerto Maldonado. It feels like you're immersed in the jungle, but it's still easy enough to reach. The lodges are beautifully kept and fit naturally into the surroundings.

The food was really good, and after time exploring the jungle, it was nice to have a pool and hammocks at the lodge. You can relax and listen to all the jungle sounds. Corto Maltés Amazonian is cozy and comfortable, with an incredible setting right in the Amazon. It's also environmentally friendly. A lovely choice if you want an authentic stay with comfort.

Franklin of the jungle made our stay unforgettable. He guided us through the rainforest so confidently and always seemed to know where to be and when. His eye for spotting animals was amazing, and he knew so much about plants and wildlife. He patiently answered every question and clearly loves sharing the jungle. He even knew many plant and animal names in German, our native language. His app let him show us pictures and play bird calls, and he took wonderful wildlife photos for us. We saw four kinds of monkeys, colorful birds including macaws, toucans, and parrots licking clay, caimans, and a capybara on our excursions. There's no need to book somewhere more expensive deeper in the jungle, Corto Maltes is already in a great spot. Franklin's photos say it all. The lodge was clean and beautiful, the food was very good, and everything was well organized. The cook also took care of our vegetarian and lactose-free dietary needs. We can absolutely recommend staying here.

Rolando was our tour guide, and he was patient, down to earth, and knew his stuff. The food was delicious, served almost right at the scheduled mealtimes, and the place is clearly set up with tourists in mind. Our bungalow looked out over the river and had a mosquito net above the bed. Animals turn up around the lodge, too. It felt like a five-star hotel dropped into the Amazon rainforest. A great getaway.
