Kapievi Ecovillage Villa

You’re near town but still surrounded by jungle at Kapievi, and we had a wonderful time there. The staff were kind and helpful, and we really enjoyed the food and drinks. We booked tours with the company they recommended, and those were excellent too. They also arranged good drivers for the airport and trips into town. The price was similar to Uber, but the car was better quality. You might spot wildlife in the jungle, so keep your eyes and ears open for surprises.

The grounds are beautiful and have a real jungle feel, and the staff were lovely and welcoming. Brian, thanks for the help and advice while we were there. This is probably one of the best lodges in puerto maldanado, though it’s not luxurious and feels a little rough around the edges. The rooms were adequate overall but could use some care and maintenance. The pool looks clear in the photos, but was cloudy and murky in person. I imagine it’s hard to keep a pool in this setting. It would be nice to have coffee before breakfast and better food choices. With a few small details improved, this place could be great.

Kapievi was a beautiful, restful place, surrounded by nature, and we loved our stay. Almendra was so lovely and looked after us in a way that made us feel at home. They also set up wonderful rainforest activities with Tambopata Experience, with every detail taken care of. We fell in love with the reserve and the madre de dios area.

I enjoyed staying here so much that I came back twice, and later returned just to eat. The food is spectacular, and even the pizza on the chef’s day off is really tasty. The complimentary breakfast is large and comes in several courses. The rooms look out onto pretty, lively trees and vegetation. One morning, tamarins hung around for more than 10 minutes, which was very cute. The mattresses and pillows are comfortable, too. Staff are lovely and quick to respond when you have a question or need help. I’d highly recommend it for a relaxing stay.
