Tatiana was the standout for us. She shared useful advice about getting around and exploring, explained the travel agency and dental clinic partnerships, and arranged a car to collect us at Arica Airport. The driver guided us through customs, which cost 30,000 Chilean pesos, and we coordinated the same service for the return. If you get turned around, a taxi driver can take you to the Chilean consulate on the corner. The hostel is good value. We had a five-person room that was a reasonable size for a short stay. It was warm, as is common in Tacna, but they provided a fan. The beds were comfortable, the TV and Wi-Fi worked well, and I liked having a private bathroom with a hot shower. Breakfast runs from 7 to 9 am. There was tea, coffee, herbs, sugar, fresh juice, bread, and something to put on it, such as egg, margarine, ham, or jam. From 6 to 7 pm, hot water, tea, and coffee are also available. You can ask for ice or hot water to bring to your room, handy for making milk for children or keeping drinks cold. Laundry can be arranged too, for an extra charge. The street gets a moderate amount of bus and minibus traffic, so light sleepers may hear some noise. I imagine a hotel nearer the center might be noisier. You can walk to the center from here or take a taxi for 4 soles. I teach my children that walking is a good way to learn about a city's people and customs, and it saves money while letting us see the sights. A taxi farther out costs 8 soles. If we come back to Tacna, we'll very likely stay here again.

The room was spacious, the beds really comfortable, and hot water was available around the clock. Wi-Fi was excellent, and the place was very clean and quiet, yet close to the center. Young Mario looked after us kindly and made us feel welcome. Breakfast wasn't huge, but two rolls were enough for me. They served butter, jam, scrambled eggs, coffee, and juice. Food isn't allowed in the rooms, which I was fine with. We liked our stay and I'd recommend it.

Tatiana was so helpful and treated us very well. The room was comfortable, and the place felt safe. It's about three blocks from the center, which worked out fine since it kept us away from the noise.

The rooms and service are top-notch, and the area feels very safe. A great choice for visiting Tacna or staying there for a longer stretch.
