Hotel Victoria

We paid more than 650 soles (160,000 CLP) for awful service and a terrible stay. We left on the third day after booking five because the hotel never fixed its many problems, and they refused to refund the unused days. I wouldn’t recommend it, and we’ll never go back. The room was a letdown from the first day. The hot water never worked properly, so we had ice-cold showers every day. One shower door was missing, leaving the whole bathroom wet, and getting out was dangerous. They gave us a cloth and told us to clean it ourselves. They said they’d fix the bathroom and water, but never did. The room wasn’t cleaned, the towels were dirty, and the sheets weren’t changed. We left at 6:00 AM for a tour one day and asked them to clean. When we got back at 8:00 PM, the wet towels were still there, there were no fresh ones or basic supplies like toilet paper and soap, and the room was dirty and smelled bad from the towels and wet floor. No one had come to clean all day. There was never a buffet breakfast. One morning, nobody was serving and nothing was laid out, so we waited 30 minutes in the dining room. They eventually served us at the table, and charged extra for avocado on the bread. The owner herself served us and asked us to pay more for a very insufficient breakfast. At check-in, they gave us no information about breakfast hours, the Wi-Fi password, or how to reach reception. We complained for two days, but nothing was resolved. There were power cuts throughout the hotel, the elevators kept stopping, and the Wi-Fi repeatedly cut out. Repeated outages burned out my laptop charger. Each time the power failed, the fire alarm went off, so we couldn’t tell whether it was the outage or a fire. They also tried to charge us 10% for paying by card, even though Izipay’s commission is 3.44 soles. They tried to scam us just because we were Chilean. The whole experience was terrible.

The room itself was fine, but I could never connect to the internet and had to rely on mobile data while roaming. Also, at around 1 a.m. on February 12, 2025, the people in the next room were having sex noisily and showing no consideration for anyone else. It made me uncomfortable.

The rooms are very comfortable, and both the service and the varied, delicious breakfast were excellent.

The room had good beds and a perfect closet, but it was very cold during winter break and there was no heating. The built-in TV couldn’t be moved because it had no arm, and its placement was really bad. The bathroom was large and nice, but the lighting wasn’t good enough for shaving, and the water wasn’t hot. There were no grab bars, so getting out of the shower was dangerous. The dining room felt cozy, but the staff’s clothes were very casual, both there and at reception. They should have uniforms. There was no hot water in the bedroom unless you had a water heater. Parking was perfect.
