The pleasant avocado and cheese breakfast, plus the picturesque gardens across the street, were the bright spots. The gardens are right across from the hotel, anyway. Beyond that, I wouldn’t recommend it. The rooms are small and quite hot, with no air conditioning or way to control the heating. The bathroom was dirty, and the rooms weren’t very clean either. The color scheme felt oppressive, and there are lots of stairs if those are a problem for you. They charge for everything, even water at 3.5 soles, about 75 pence or one dollar. The hotel itself isn’t inexpensive. I was told the plaza was a five-minute walk, then that it was a twelve-minute drive, but in reality it’s nowhere near the Plaza and there seems to be very little around the hotel. It felt like Peru’s version of Faulty Towers, without the humor.

The room itself was nice, but some odd things happened during my stay. The extension phone rang five times. Whenever I picked it up, the call either cut off or nobody said anything. Reception told me no one had called. Around midnight, my backpack, which had been sitting untouched on a chair for hours, suddenly ended up on the floor with a pillow. I wasn’t scared and just went back to sleep. Later, I had nightmares and felt like there were presences in the room, as if something had happened there. I heard whispers by my ear but wasn’t afraid. In a dream, I was in a room with two relatives and saw a man dressed in lead with a cape. He disappeared when I started praying in the dream. I left very early in the morning. I don’t usually get scared by things like this or have nightmares, but that was my experience. Greetings.

It’s away from the city’s hustle and bustle, so it’s a great place to unwind. The outdoor area seemed secure enough that I could leave my vehicle there without problems. A single room costs S/. 150.00, which seems more than fair for a traveler who just wants to relax. Excellent hotel.
