Wyndham Costa del Sol Tumbes

I stayed two nights in room 412, and couldn't recommend this hotel as it is now, especially to someone visiting Tumbes for the first time. It has potential, particularly because there isn't real competition in Tumbes, but it needs investment and attention. The worst problem was the constant noise and vibration from the ventilation system in the underground garage behind my room. It went on every hour, like an earthquake or an airport runway, and made sleep nearly impossible. The room also had a strong smell, and the carpeted floor felt unclean. The pool was dirty from the moment I arrived and stayed that way throughout my visit, so it wasn't inviting at all. There weren't even towels available for sunbathing. The rooftop bar could have been a highlight, but its tables and chairs felt more like kindergarten furniture than a lounge. The hotel is inside a shopping mall, which made it feel more suited to quick errands like getting a soda or window shopping than to a relaxing stay. I noticed a serious lack of maintenance around the property as soon as I got inside. The rooms and facilities need proper upkeep, the noise needs to be controlled, staff need training to improve service, and the furniture and amenities need an upgrade. With those changes, this place could become a unique and enjoyable destination.

The food was tasty and there was a good variety of meals. Felix, Danitza and Luis were friendly and really nice workers, and the service was great. Definitely recommend it. I'm sure I'll be back soon.

We've had fantastic service during our extended stay. Everyone has been attentive to what we need and greets us with a smile. The rooms are clean, well appointed and very comfortable. A few staff members who stood out: Luis and Isabel in housekeeping, Luis, Danixza and Carolina at the breakfast buffet, and Samuel and Artulfo in the lobby. There were others too, but I can't remember their names right now.

The breakfast staff were kind and attentive, refilled things quickly, and brought coffee right away. Carlos was patient and efficient with our bad Spanish. Maria, Isaac and Martin were great too.
