Rua Hoteles - Talara

Breakfast was simple, freshly made, and good. It was easily the nicest part of our stay. There were plenty of problems with the rooms and equipment. Our first room looked okay at first, but the bathroom was so narrow that you couldn't sit upright on the toilet. We could have put up with that. The QR code for the room service menu didn't work, and we learned there was no room service anyway. The TV remote was for a different room and wouldn't work. The receptionist came to look, but was curt and couldn't fix it, even with new batteries. We were eventually offered another room and hurried over with our things, without an apology. The second room had a pillow with a damp, unpleasant smell. We tried calling reception, but the phone didn't work. In the morning, the shower head was broken and sprayed water over the glass, soaking the bathroom and our clothes. After we reported it, they offered dry towels and another room, but our stay was short, so we didn't want to pack and move again. No apology then either. The beds were poor quality, and the mattress creaked with every movement, making it almost impossible to sleep well. The reception staff did eventually try to address each issue, but there shouldn't have been so many to begin with. The icing on the cake was the payment. We had to pay at check-in, in soles only, despite having booked in dollars. At checkout, I was confused by the amount charged. They used an exchange rate of 3.80 dollars, while the actual rate was around 3.30. When I raised this, they pointed to the small Spanish print on the check-in form. Paying in local currency should cost less, so this felt like an unfair, opaque surcharge for tourists. Even after I said again that I wanted to pay in dollars, they said they couldn't do anything further.

We felt right at home and will definitely stay here again on our next trip to beautiful Talara. The hotel is very close to downtown Talara, and everything felt safe during our stay. We came from Piura as part of our vacation and called ahead. They were kind from the start, and even though check-in was set for 3:00 PM, they let us in at noon. The room was bright, cool, and comfortable, with modern facilities. The bedding was very clean and soft, and we slept well. They have air conditioning, drinking water available at all times, and clean, soft towels. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were top-notch and made us feel very welcome.

Breakfast is included, and the beds are comfortable and have air conditioning. The bathroom is a little small, but that's fine. Good hotel for a short stay.

You can hear all the street noise, but the hotel itself is very clean and tidy, and the service was excellent.
