Hotel San Juan

Warning, I hope nobody else has the experience we had here. It was 33C in the middle of the day when we found out the air conditioner in our room wasn't working, after we'd paid. They asked us to wait five minutes while they fixed it, but we sat there sweating for over an hour and nothing changed. When we checked again, they said five minutes again, which felt like a lie. They offered us another room with a queen bed and working air conditioning, but then took another half hour to confirm it when we asked. In the end, they agreed to refund us, but still kept 20 soles as a fee. After all that service, charging us those 20 soles was awful. Don't stay here. Any hotel with no stars or rating would be better.

The customer service in Tarapoto has never been worse. We had no hot water one night, then no water at all the next day. The staff and the accommodations were horrible. This is the worst hotel, and I won't be back. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Just a short walk from Tarapoto's main square, this is a clean, welcoming family-run hotel. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, with air conditioning and hot water, and they clean daily. Breakfast was very good too. I'd recommend it completely.

Our towels weren't changed, and we only had one each. With a pool, they should provide at least two towels. How can I dry off when the towel is already wet? The pool itself was full of insects, and the water seemed to have far too much chlorine. It bleached my clothes. It looks like they don't change the water and just keep adding chlorine.
