The views across the Urubamba valley make the climb worthwhile. It takes about 45 minutes uphill from the main highway to reach this Incan ruin, and some stretches are steep and strenuous, so wear good shoes and be prepared. The path isn't marked very clearly, though it's maintained fairly well. There's another ruin at the trail's base, with a large stone grain mill.

Breakfast was impressive, and dinner was good too, with healthy vegetarian choices. There's always drinking water and fresh fruit in the dining room, and the staff are really helpful. They don't speak English, but I got by with my limited Spanish and Google Translate, and they made my stay wonderful. The property is lovely and green, with outdoor seating and a small book shack. It's peaceful and a bit out of the way, but a great base for the Sacred Valley.

It takes about 45-60 minutes each way, and the path gets steep in places. The trailhead was easy to locate, and the hike rewards you with amazing views over the sacred valley and Incan ruin formations at the mountain top.

Las Chullpas is such a spacious eco lodge, with plenty of spots to sit and relax, hammocks, and super friendly dogs. The food was incredible, really healthy and nutritious. Thanks so much again, Nancy!

A quiet, comfortable room with a fireplace makes this an ideal place to relax. It's quite isolated and a little far from the Inca ruins, but I'd recommend staying here if that's what you're after.
