La Capilla made for a lovely, quiet visit. The owners met us when we arrived and showed us to charming rooms that opened onto a central garden full of plants and flowers. They asked us to order dinner in the dining room, then head back to get ready. By the time we’d freshened up, our meals were cooked perfectly. There was plenty to enjoy in our downtime too: a bar where we had wine and chatted with other guests, a lounge with books, magazines, and games, and of course the beautiful garden. It’s a family-run lodge, and I’d rate it very highly.

Rhomina and her Mom were wonderfully warm hosts, and their help made our stay unforgettable. Since we don’t speak much Spanish, they took time to explain everything to the kind driver they called for us. He took us through the Sacred Valley and then to Ollantay train station, which made the trip easy. Thank you again, Rhomina! The place itself was a lovely surprise from the moment Rhomina greeted us. There’s a pretty garden with colorful flowers and a fish pond, right at the foothills of the Andes. We woke to birds singing. What a retreat.

The garden was nice, if quite small, and there were lovely dogs. It’s a long way from the center, and the breakfast was average, nothing special. Free water was a nice touch, but for the price, I didn’t feel we got good value.

After Machu Picchu we were exhausted, and this lovely, relaxing place in Urubamba was just what we needed. The people running it make it even better. A real hidden gem.

The lodge and garden are lovely, and the rooms are large, comfortable, and thoughtfully done. The food was excellent, and the service was friendly and great.
