The ceiling leaked onto the bed early in the morning while we were trying to sleep, and we also found cockroaches in the bathroom. Getting to the beach was difficult. The staff were awful, unfriendly, and unwilling to solve problems. They promised several things but didn’t deliver. It was a very disappointing stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The problems started on our first day. We were 10 couples with paid stays and high expectations, but the service was terrible, as though the hotel were doing us a favor. We paid $80-$100 per room per night for poor service and a badly run place without basic facilities. We were never given a receipt, and there wasn’t even a sign at the entrance. We wouldn’t recommend it under any circumstances. There are much better places in Zorritos. We had booked all 10 rooms after confirming we could have a barbecue for a birthday. They assured us everything would be available, especially since we knew one of the owners and would be the only guests. Had we known how it would go, we’d have rented one of the many nice houses nearby or stayed at Casa Andina, which charges about the same but offers far better service. There was no direct, safe way to the beach. Rocks were in front of the hotel, and reaching the beach to the side meant walking over dangerous stones. There were no showers or taps to rinse off, so we had to get into the pool covered in sand and salt. The pool lights were turned off at 11:30 p.m., leaving us in the dark while we were there with friends on vacation. They also kept switching off the water pump and only turned it on when we complained. How can a hotel run without water? During the day, machinery like wood cutters made so much noise that resting was impossible. The pool bar had no bartender, drinks weren’t being sold, and there was no ice. They also wouldn’t let us bring our own drinks, so we couldn’t even cool off by the pool. We had to complain to get the smallest exception. The staff had been hired the same day we arrived. The only employee was friendly, but couldn’t possibly look after 20 people on her own. Breakfast took agonizingly long because just one person was serving everyone. Towels weren’t changed either, we used the same ones for four days. The owner never showed up and passed everything through that one employee. On our last day, lunch had been arranged at the hotel. The chef, who was very friendly, arrived with everything prepared, but he was working as an independent concession and the owner wouldn’t let him cook because we had to leave by 1 p.m. We weren’t allowed to use our rooms or even stay for lunch in the common area. We were told to leave very unfriendly. They also had a small dog tied up in the sun, with no water in sight. That’s unacceptable.
