Bounty Lodge

The pool was mostly my kids’ to themselves, and there’s a beach right across the road. Hyper U is only about a five-minute drive away, with inexpensive fresh fish you can cook on the gas stove or on the available grills. We also found the location handy for reaching the area’s attractions and beaches. The bungalows are beautiful, with ocean views, and the hosts were warm, friendly, and ready to help at any hour. They gave us lots of local tips and directions, and even called places for us since we don’t speak French. There’s a climb up to the house, but it didn’t seem any steeper than downtown Seattle’s hills. We managed it in a small automatic, and it should be fine in a manual or larger vehicle too. It’s a lovely spot away from the tourist crowds. I’d come back whenever I could, unless I had the budget for an overwater bungalow. Thanks, Cedrick and Poe, for such wonderful hospitality!

Getting to the lodge was the main reason for my low rating. At night, the steep hill was difficult and poorly lit, and our car got stuck at the bottom. Some kind people had to push it for us, otherwise we wouldn’t have known what to do. Once there, the lodge was okay. The view was lovely, and we liked the outdoor kitchen. But the fridge was plugged in and still didn’t work, the Wi-Fi was terrible, and the old outlets meant there were no converters for our room. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. EDIT: I wrote this review last year and only came back to the page now. It doesn’t look good when an owner refuses to take responsibility or respond courteously and improve things for future guests, then flat-out LIES and says we never stayed here. I don’t think the business will do well with that attitude. If you’re considering it, do yourself a favor and AVOID IT.

Those amazing French pastries were a highlight, and my stay at Bounty Lodge was the best part of Tahiti. The view is to die for, and the hosts are lovely. So freaking awesome!

Great service, and the host was generous. The lodge also has a wonderful pool looking out over the ocean. I’d recommend it, as I think it’s the best value you can find near Tahiti.
