Hotel Kaveka

The room was comfortable, and the shower felt like being surrounded by a garden. At reception, Moe was warm and generous with answers and recommendations. The property is a real hidden gem in a very convenient spot in Cook’s Bay, and great value. It’s worth taking a look.

My room at the back was perfect. I hadn’t paid for a view, so I didn’t mind not having one. It was immaculate, and the bathroom was modern and worked perfectly. Maybe the hotel was renovating when some people stayed, and they got unlucky. Sure, food and drinks cost extra, but it’s a business, and shipping everything to Moorea is expensive.

I’d say don’t book this place. Almost all the services listed on the website are no longer available, the WiFi doesn’t work, and the rooms and bungalows are badly outdated and in poor condition. The shower curtain was covered in red mold, the toilet seat had lost its color, and the toilet and shower room smelled awful. There was rust in the fridge, and no glasses, cups, or even a kettle. Breakfast cost more than €30 per person but had almost no variety and nothing worth that price. Even beach towels at a beach hotel cost extra. We’d booked and paid for early check-in at 6:30 am, but on arrival after a long trip we were told it wouldn’t be possible until 9. The hotel’s “beach” wasn’t worth calling a beach either, with no umbrellas and old sunbeds without cushions. We ended up using the hotel just to sleep. Luckily, we’d booked three nights rather than our entire time on lovely Moorea.

Our first room was tiny, filthy, and old, with no room for luggage. Nobody cleaned it during our stay, and there was no hot water. The bathroom looked like something from a prison. After we complained, we were moved to a larger room, but it had the same problems. The bed looked like it had come from another cheap hotel. This place ruined our honeymoon and our whole Moorea experience. I’d never recommend it. Avoid it at all costs.
