Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort

We spent five nights at Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort and the people made the trip feel especially memorable. Every day, staff greeted us with genuine smiles and kindness. Pedro, the manager, deserves a special thank you for his professionalism, care, and attention to detail. He went out of his way to make us feel special. On my birthday, the team surprised me with a beautiful cake and a wonderful local dance performance. It was an emotional moment we’ll always remember. The hotel, atmosphere, and food were all perfect for us, and the hospitality made it clear how much the staff care about giving guests a good experience. We can’t wait to return to Moorea, and would recommend Sofitel Moorea 1000%.

We’re already looking forward to coming back for an anniversary. The lagoon and island views were gorgeous, the rooms comfortably spacious, and the staff unfailingly friendly and helpful. I’ve never seen water so clear, and we snorkeled right off our own deck using free resort rentals. Beach time, paddle boarding, kayaking, and a few excursions off the property made for a perfect trip. Our only complaint was the weather. It was cloudy with on-and-off rain all week, and the sun came out ten minutes after we checked out. Not kidding. I’ve yet to meet anyone who can control the weather, so it is what it is. Best vacation we’ve had.

The water around the bungalow and the snorkeling were truly amazing, and a couple of staff members were nice, especially the breakfast host and the omelet guy. But the property is in dire need of renovation. Things are falling apart all over, and it feels tired and dated, with little effort going into upkeep. We tried to end our weeklong stay on day two, but they wouldn’t let us. The food was average at best. The high end restaurant wasn’t close to being worth its prices. If you’re paying premium rates, don’t expect a premium experience. They started work on the lobby and spa while we were there, but it still seems years away from being fully renovated.

The people and staff were extremely nice, and I’d still stay here again. The water is beautiful, with lots of colorful fish and sealife right outside your door. We did miss having the spa, which was closed for renovation, especially on the day it poured rain. Meals and rooms are rather expensive, though.
