The ocean views are lovely, and you can swim from the seawall. There isn't a beach, but the water is usually fairly calm thanks to the breakwater a couple hundred yards out. I also enjoyed watching the crabs around the lawn and seawall. The little plastic pools look a bit cheap, though they work and are a relaxing spot to sit and look at the water. The bungalow is mostly comfortable, with a decent bed, mosquito net, fan, and a useful kitchen with a gas stove, fridge, and the basics for simple meals. There's no AC, which fits the Polynesian style of living. You'll want a rental car since town is some distance away. The staff were friendly, but none spoke English. I didn't need much, and Google Translate worked. Internet was fine. My main gripes were the uncomfortable blue plastic chairs, which aren't great for enjoying the view, and some surfaces that could have been cleaned better. If you're after a more Polynesian stay and have a car, it's worth considering.

The tidy grounds and the friendly, helpful staff were the best parts of our stay. Still, the place didn't match its Booking.com description, and I don't think it was worth the money as things stood. It could be, if the listed facilities were actually there. There was no proper reception, so we had to find the owner at his accommodation. The promised cafe or coffee wasn't available, and there was no mini mart either. The nearest shop was a 20 km drive away. Cleanliness also needed attention, especially in the kitchen. The old, rusty refrigerator didn't work properly, and the room lighting was too dim for reading. They gave me a table lamp when I asked, but there wasn't a bedside table to put it on. Road noise was another downside, particularly at night and early in the morning. Although the facilities listed French and English, the staff couldn't speak or understand English beyond “good morning, how are you?”

The owner was very kind and ready to help with anything, and we felt safe there. Nights were quiet, too. The bungalows are roomy and near the sea, though the big blue plastic pools get in the way of the view and don't seem very useful. Wi-Fi was down much of the time.

Blue sea, blue sky, and a real paradise feel. I fell in love with the place and the area. The staff were so friendly, and the bungalow was lovely and clean. 😍
