PROXY Plus by The Oriental Pangasinan

It’s just a few minutes from the wharf, which is convenient, and booking a hundred Islands tour was easy. The staff were accommodating, especially CJ at the front desk and Jomar in housekeeping, and the seafood viand was great. The hotel is still being improved, with some construction going on, so these were just our experiences during that time. Our junior suite had a nice ocean view, but our friend’s next door junior suite, for the same price, only had a side ocean view and a parking lot view. The bathroom sliding door was heavy. There were lots of mosquitoes, which scared me. The balcony was bare, with no table and chairs, so we couldn’t really enjoy the ocean view there. We stayed 3D, 2N and asked for an extra toothbrush for our kid on the first day, but they said they could only give it the next day. I understand it may be protocol, but it didn’t feel very accommodating. There were no teabags in the room, although their marketing materials say it includes a “coffee-tea making set.” When I asked staff for tea, they simply said, “we don’t have tea.” The restaurant didn’t feel kid-friendly because there was no barricade. They close the glass doors during breakfast, but leave them open at night, so watch your children, as they could fall off the ocean. It’s expensive, too. They ask you to support local fishermen by buying from them and having the hotel restaurant cook the seafood, but that costs Php 600/kg. Even so, I wouldn’t mind staying at Proxy Hotel again next time.

Fell asleep to a relaxing sunset view from the view deck, then woke up to a beautiful sunrise and a Hundred Islands view at the breakfast buffet. The room was lovely, and PROXY Plus made for a peaceful staycation. The buffet was only ₱699 and had lots of selections. The food was honestly tastier than at other buffets I’ve tried, and it felt well worth the price. More drink options would be nice, but I’m definitely coming back for the good food and views.

It’s a new hotel in a good spot near Alaminos port, but the room is very pricey. The interior is fine, though the bathroom has a sliding door with no lock, and I prefer having privacy. The buffet at their cafe is too expensive as well. The soup was cold, and there wasn’t much choice of fruit or desserts. The atmosphere is pretty typical. They could improve quite a bit.

We spent two nights here over New Year’s Eve 2026. The location is a real plus, close to Hundred Islands plaza and the boat tours, but the room issues made the stay feel overpriced, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless they’re addressed. There was no visible evacuation plan by the room door, the emergency flood light was unplugged, and the room had no security bolt for belongings. In the family room, the sliding bathroom door didn’t lock or close fully, so smells carried into the room. There were no mirrors outside the bathroom, and I’d have liked a bedside lamp and better ambient lighting. We also needed somewhere to hang towels and swimwear to dry after swimming. The open clothes cabinet had no doors, which wasn’t what I expected. We weren’t given the WiFi password at check-in, and there was no information card in the room. The TV was advertised on Agoda as having streaming apps such as Netflix and Disney Plus, but you need your own subscriptions and logins, as with YouTube. Agoda also listed massage service, though hotel customer service said it wasn’t available. For those shortcomings, the price seemed too high. I’d only recommend staying if the issues are fixed to match the advertised four- or five-star standard.
