Apollonia Royale Hotel

The rooftop pool was a nice bonus, and the other staff were super nice and accommodating. My rating is mixed because the room change and refund situation left a bad taste. I had booked a superior Queen room and came by the day before check-in to see it. The furniture was old, which management agreed with, and the room felt cramped, nothing like the Agoda listing. The daytime receptionist was helpful and showed me the Royal suite. It was impressive, but cost extra, and she offered me 15% off. When I came to check in the next day, that receptionist wasn't there. Another woman, who I later learned was the supervisor, said my upgrade was ready and offered only 10% off. I reminded her about the 15% offer, and she agreed, but I felt she would have given me just 10% if I hadn't raised it. I also realized I'd booked one night more than needed because my flight was a day earlier. Agoda agreed on their side and said they'd contact the hotel about refunding one day. The supervisor refused, saying refunds were against hotel policy. It was 5k+ in revenue for them, and she kept strutting around like a peacock, probably the manager's pet.

The first room I got was old, but they moved me to a newer one, which was much better. The staff were great, the location was nice and quiet, and the rooftop pool was good.

The water pressure was so low that I couldn't shower properly. I also wasn't happy with how they handled checkout. I'd extended my stay and paid for the room, then put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door because I sleep during the day starting at 8 AM. Even so, someone called at 11:30 AM to ask about upgrading my room, waking me up. I said I was fine with the small room. When I checked out 45 minutes late, I asked them to waive the 200 PHP late fee because of that disturbance on the first day, but they refused.
