Goldenfield Kundutel Hotel

The hotel food was pretty good for the money, though not the best I had there. We stayed for two weeks in July-August 2018 while visiting my fiance's family and friends. The staff were friendly, and the place was quiet, with beautiful decor and a waterfall. Food and a few bars were within walking distance. The outside looked a bit dingy, but that's PI. Staff worked to keep it clean and keep the riffraff away.

The room was nice, got quite cold, and had lots of pillows. The receptionist was nice, though the other staff were just okay. There were barely any guests, almost like a ghost town, and I found myself wishing more people were around. The elevators were aggressive, barely giving you time to get in before trying to squeeze you, and quite hard too. The shower was weird: hot water could be boiling and physically hurt. I tried mixing in cold water, but it suddenly stopped, and I got burned. The place was just okay overall and needs improvement. It kind of feels abandoned.

Good value for money, with solid security around the area and police stationed outside the hotel 24 hours. There are a few nightclubs nearby, so ask for a quiet room if you need one. A water park next door is there if you want to swim, and you can walk to banks, a shopping mall, restaurants, pubs, and other facilities. I think it used to be a red-light district, but it didn't feel sleazy or in your face, so it was okay as long as you don't go into "that bar".

The bed was decent, and there was plenty of hot water with good pressure. But the room was dusty, and both my partner and I have rhinitis, so we were sniffling. The bathroom and toilet also look worn, with a slightly discolored ceiling. Even the water pitcher had residue around its spout, seemingly because it was so old. Little things like that let the hotel down. At P2500 a night, Kundutel feels about three years overdue for renovation. If you don't have rhinitis, it may be okay, but I've stayed at better places in Bacolod, including Luxor, Sugarland, and even Planta.
