The restaurant made a good impression too: generous portions, tasty food, and a cozy, home kitchen sort of feel. The staff there were warm and accommodating, and the dishes felt thoughtfully made. Our room was clean and spacious for our family of four, with comfortable beds and enough room to move around. It also smelled fresh when we came in, which made it feel well cared for. We had a pleasant, comfortable stay at Sotogrande Hotel Baguio City and would gladly return.

The food was good, but getting service in the restaurant took effort. There were lots of staff around, yet we had to flag someone down for everything. We were having cocktails with our meal, and you’d think they’d check whether we wanted another round. The hallways were extremely noisy and echoey, with kids running and playing on the bare floors. I’d read a manager response from two years ago saying they were considering carpet, but the noise is still a problem. The bathroom and halls smelled like sewage, and we had no hot water at all. Doors beeped randomly day and night, and the sound carried through the corridors. Without a car, getting anywhere means climbing a huge hill. We’re seniors and managed it, but it wasn’t fun. A golf cart to help guests, especially seniors, up and down would make sense. They charged extra for things like pillows and towels, and there were no washcloths. Between that and the lack of hot water, I felt like I must have smelled awful. The TV had no channels, just the option to log into your own streaming service. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The heated pool was a nice touch, and you can see the hotel is still working on its amenities. We also liked the location: peaceful enough to feel like Baguio, while still close to key spots around town. Breakfast was simple but good, and the dining staff were attentive. From arrival, the staff were polite, helpful, and quick to assist. Their hospitality felt natural and set a comfortable tone. Our room was clean, cozy, and spacious, with fresh smelling linens and a comfortable bed. It was an easy place to relax after exploring Baguio. We had a pleasant, warm stay at Sotogrande and would be happy to come back, partly for the comfort and partly for the people working there.

We’ve booked here twice now, and our latest stay was lovely too. Even during Baguio’s peak week, the Front Office team stayed composed and organized while working through a packed lobby. They treated people courteously and seemed to be doing their best to assist everyone fairly. The rooms were clean and service stayed consistent. Parking is limited, as it is at many Baguio hotels, but planning ahead helps. I’ve always liked the buffet breakfast. It doesn’t need to be fancy when you can see the care and effort that goes into it. We still find this a dependable place and will gladly book again. We arrived a little after 2PM because, as experienced travelers, we know it’s standard courtesy not to expect a room before official check-in. Hotels have many guests to accommodate.

My sibling and I tried the restaurant ahead of our family’s planned Valentine’s Day meal, hoping it would be a good place to celebrate. Now we’re frustrated and unsure about bringing everyone here. We waited 45 minutes for the food, despite only two occupied tables. The complimentary bread took 30 minutes, and the nachos arrived after 35. They cost Php 600 for a small amount of beef and cheese. The French onion soup was much too sweet and unpleasant. When the bbq ribs finally came, they were only warm, not hot, and seemed not to have been freshly cooked. They were very dry, short on BBQ sauce, and the meat tasted frozen. The fries didn’t seem fresh either. The long wait was already frustrating, and the food made it worse. We kept wondering what was going on in the kitchen.
